YVONNE LIGHT SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT FUND

OVERVIEW
The Yvonne Light Scholarship was started by Yvonne’s husband, Les, in memory of his wife. Yvonne was a parishioner of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Redmond, Oregon. She was a strong supporter of the newly started St. Thomas Academy founded in 2006, which started as a preschool and pre-kindergarten. At her death her family started an endowment fund in her name.
The mission of St. Thomas Academy, now a preschool through 8th grade school, is to provide an educational program based on a strong faith, Christian values, and supporting environment. A percentage of the interest each year is used to fund scholarships to any student enrolled at St. Thomas Academy and a portion goes back into the principal to grow the fund.
The purpose of the scholarship is to fund tuition assistance for students of St. Thomas Academy in Redmond. Originally the scholarship funds were placed in a special account within the Academy.
It was decided that the money and further donations to this scholarship fund could be better administered if they were moved to the Legacy of Faith Foundation. That being done, the Foundation and the Academy set a percentage of the total endowment to be awarded each year.
