KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
BEND CHAPTER CHARITIES FUND
OVERVIEW
The Knights of Columbus Bend Charities Fund was started in 2025. The purpose of the fund was to provide long term annual gifts to areas that are special to the Knights of Columbus in Bend.
Typically there will be 6 distributions from a number of local outreach programs such as, Pregnancy Resource Centers of Central Oregon, Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity, Bethlehem Inn, St. Vincent de Paul Society Bend, Oregon Right to Life, Knights of Columbus Charities and others decided in November annually. The remaining principal will remain for growth. The majority of the funding will come from the Knights of Columbus and will be ongoing. The fund will begin distributions in 2025.

DistributionHalf of the fund's interest is divided among St. Thomas Academy, St. Thomas Parish, and a Diocesan fund for priests.

Catholic ContextThe fund operates within the framework of the Catholic Church, specifically the Diocese of Baker, and is named after St. Jude, a patron saint within the church.

ReinvestmentThe other half of the interest is reinvested to increase the fund's overall value.

FundingThe fund is primarily supported by the donor's long-term estate planning, with a portion of the funding being ongoing and the major contribution occurring upon the donor's death.

ImpactThe distributions are unrestricted, allowing the recipients to use the funds as they see fit.
