FATHER WECKERLE ENDOWMENT FUND

OVERVIEW
Father Leo Weckerle was raised in the Midwest with roots in the fertile ground of the corn belt. His heart and spiritual roots were grounded in his Catholic faith and upbringing.
Pastor of St. Thomas Parish in Redmond, Oregon, for 16 years and founder of St. Thomas Academy, Fr. Weckerle was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Fr. Leo Weckerly was the retired pastor of St. Thomas Church in Redmond, Oregon. He died on March 23, 2015. At his death he left a Knights of Columbus life insurance policy naming St. Thomas Academy as the beneficiary.
The parish and school wanted to set up a fund to keep Fr. Weckerly’s generosity to the school is ongoing. This fund mirrors the St. Thomas Education Endowment Fund with the added fund used for continuing education for staff of St. Thomas Parish. A portion of the interest is to be used for scholarships for Catholic Education of members of the parish and a portion of the interest goes to build up the principal of the fund.
Fr. Weckerle knew that it is a financial challenge for many of our young Catholic families to give their children a Catholic education and his Legacy Fund would help them fulfill their hopes for their children.
With his generous gift, Fr. Weckerle will continue to pass on the gift of faith to young people at his beloved parish and school.
